WordPress Multisite or WP Network is a single WP installation that contains and controls multiple WP sites(called subsites).
Unlike having multiple independent WordPress sites, all subsites of a WP Multisite share the same files and database, but they do have different URLs(which can be implemented as subfolders, subdomains, or separate domains).
Since WP Multisite shares the same database and files, the process and required logins aren’t different from a single WP site migration.
So, the required logins in order to complete a WordPress Multisite migration are:
- WP admin(dashboard) username and password
- Current hosting login(cPanel or equivalent)
- New hosting login(cPanel or equivalent)
What’s different is that there’s an additional step after the successful files and database migration- mapping the network subsites to their according subfolders, subdomains, or separate domains.
This is why WP Multisite migration takes more time and costs a bit more. The positive side is that our team handles WP Multisite migrations very well, making sure that your network continues working flawlessly after our work is done.
